The Peru Central School District Board of Education appointed Cynthia Ford-Johnston as Interim Superintendent of Schools effective May 1, 2017. She will serve as Interim until Dec. 31, 2017 when the Board has set an anticipated start date for the new Peru CSD Superintendent of January 1, 2018.
Dr. Patrick Brimstein, current Peru Superintendent, has agreed to stay on until May 8, 2017 to ensure a smooth transition, and will work directly with Ms. Ford-Johnston May 1st and 2nd to familiarize her with the Peru Central School District.
Ms. Ford-Johnston said, "As a life-long resident of the North Country, I have always admired the Peru Central District for its quality of education, strong sense of community and unflappable spirit. I am honored to be asked to assist the district through this transition. I look forward to getting to know and working with the entire school community."
PERU CSD Board of Education President Kim Mayer expressed the Board’s thanks to both Ms. Ford-Johnston and Dr. Brimstein, “Cynthia Ford-Johnston is an experienced Superintendent of Schools who served in Keene for 18 years and as an Interim Superintendent in Westport for two years. The Board is delighted to have such a highly qualified Interim leading our district as we continue the search for a permanent Superintendent.”
The Peru Board of Education is working with Dr. Mark C. Davey, District Superintendent of Champlain Valley Educational Services, to conduct the search process for the Peru CSD Superintendent of Schools. The goal is to have a new Superintendent in place by Jan. 1, 2018.
According to Dr. Davey, “I am pleased that Cynthia Ford-Johnston has agreed to serve as Interim in the Peru CSD. She is a highly-regarded, experienced Superintendent who can provide high-caliber educational leadership and continuity as the search for a new Superintendent moves forward.”
