New York State Testing for Fifth Graders
During the fifth grade year, students will take two New York State Assessments.  Exams in English/Language Arts and mathematics measure how well student are meeting or exceeding the New York State Learning Standards.  These exams are only "one piece of the puzzle" in helping students achieve; they are not the bottom line!!
English/Language Arts Mathematics

Part I students read various genres of reading selections, and answer questions based on the readings. 

Part II requires students to read an article and complete a short writing piece.  They will also have to identify grammatically correct sentences.

 Part I consists of 26 multiple choice questions. 

Part II is composed of 13 short answer questions.
