Computer/Internet Policy

Listed below are specific violations of the
Peru Central School Acceptable Use Policy
and the consequences that are a result of those violations. 
 

VIOLATION CONSEQUENCE
Playing computer/internet games during Periods 1 thru 9, including but not limited to Yahoo Games, MSN Games, etc. Suspension of privileges for 2 school weeks
Downloading and/or viewing videos, downloading and/or listening to music, unless specifically assigned by a staff member and technology staff member is notified. Suspension of privileges for 2 school weeks
Wastefully using finite resources (ink, paper, etc) Suspension of privileges for 2 school weeks
Sharing your password with students who do not have permission to use district computer or have had their computer privileges suspended. Suspension of privileges for 4 school weeks
Using another student's user name and password without permission Suspension of privileges for 4 school weeks
Using public email (Hotmail, Yahoo, AOL, etc) Suspension of privileges for 4 school weeks
Participating in online chat rooms Suspension of privileges for 4 school weeks
Participating in online purchasing activities (Ebay, Ubid, etc.) Suspension of privileges for 4 school weeks
Publishing Web page via use of district information technology resources, without  permission from district. Suspension of privileges for 5 school weeks and referral to school administrator
Plagiarism Suspension of privileges for 5 school weeks and referral to school administrator
Intentionally accessing inappropriate material on the Internet; including but not limited to sites dealing with violence, drugs, pornography, gambling, shopping weapons. Suspension of privileges for 5 school weeks and referral to school administrator
Downloading and/or installing software without the express permission of the district. Suspension of privileges for 5 school weeks and referral to school administrator
Transmitting, receiving or accessing inappropriate material (including visual depictions that are obscene, immoral, child pornography, harmful to minors, violent or illegal) Suspension of privileges for one full school year, referral to school administrator and possible referral to School Resource Officer
Intentionally disrupting network traffic or crashing the network and connected systems Suspension of privileges for one full school year, referral to school administrator and possible referral to School Resource Officer
Degrading or disrupting equipment or system performance Suspension of privileges for one full school year, referral to school administrator and possible referral to School Resource Officer
Stealing data, equipment or intellectual property Suspension of privileges for one full school year, referral to school administrator and possible referral to School Resource Officer
Using the internet to post anonymous messages or harass, insult or attack others.  Suspension of privileges for one full school year, referral to school administrator and possible referral to School Resource Officer
Using network for illegal activities, including "hacking" Suspension of privileges for one full school year, referral to school administrator and possible referral to School Resource Officer
Using computer resources for commercial or financial gain or fraud. Suspension of privileges for one full school year, referral to school administrator and possible referral to School Resource Officer
Other violations  Violations other than those listed here will be dealt with on a case to case basis.

ANY second violation will result in double the consequence of the most serious violation.
