VOTER ELIGIBILITY

A qualified voter is one who is (1) a citizen of the United States of America, (2) eighteen years of age or older, and a (3) resident within the School District for a period of thirty (30) days next preceding the annual vote and election.  The School District may require all persons offering to vote at the budget vote and election to provide one form of proof of residency pursuant to Education Law §2018-c.  Such form may include a driver’s license, a non-driver identification card, a utility bill, or a voter registration card.  For more information, you can call the district clerk at 643.6002.

 

VOTING

Peru Central School District does not use a system of "personal registration", so a person can enroll to vote throughout the school year including the day of the vote.  For more information, you can call the district clerk at 643.6002.  New enrollees will be required to present identification.

 

 

   
 
ABSENTEE BALLOTS

Absentee ballots will be issued, upon request, to residents of  Peru Central School District who will be out of town or unable to vote in person due to illness or disability.  If wanting an absentee ballot please complete the absentee application first. 

Completed applications must be received by the District Clerk not later than 4 p.m. on May 13,  2008, if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter. Applications can be mailed attention: District Clerk, Peru Central School District, P.O. Box 68, Peru, NY  12972 (they can also be hand delivered).  Completed applications received after 4 p.m. on May 13, 2008, will require the voter personally appear at the Office of the District Clerk to receive an absentee ballot. Completed absentee ballots must be received in the office of the District Clerk by 5 p.m., May 20, 2008.    Please do not forget to sign the absentee ballot envelope or it cannot be counted.  If you have any questions, please call the district clerk at 643.6002.
